Having left Hungary through a minefield in 1957, it was quite an experience to return to Budapest in December of 1994 -- after 37 years, 10 months and 2 days -- as a Canadian Member of Parliament and an advisor to the Prime Minister. |

October 27, 1995 was a glorious day for Canada, when people from all across the country converged on Montreal to express their affection for Quebec and their passion for keeping canada together. Twelve busloads came from K-W and many more of our neighbours would have come if there had been more buses available. |

April, 1997: meeting with co-op housing residents. When it was announced that federally-funded co-operative housing might be turned over to the province's administration, I and the Ontario Liberal Caucus came out solidly against such a measure.The federal government retained the co-ops. |

Hon. Paul Martin, Finance Minister met with me, Dr. Tom Brzustowski (of NSERC, left) and Dr. Art Carty (of NRC, right) in January of 1998 to discuss research funding in Canada. In the 1998 Budget, Mr. Martin allocated new funds for research and established the Canadian Foundation for Innovation. |

January, 1998: Industry Canada held an Industry Fair in Waterloo. Hon. John Manley, Minister of Industry was happy to meet Kaycee Vasudeva of Maxtech Manufacturing Inc. In 1997, Mr. Vasudeva was named Businessman of the Year by the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce. |
